Tad Schnugg

Tad Schnugg is Co-Founder and the Executive Director of the American Performing Arts Collaborative. In 1968, Alvin Ailey invited Schnugg to work with the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. Schnugg worked as assistant to Ivy Clarke (the General Manager of AADT). In 1971, George Faison and Tad Schnugg co-founded the George Faison Universal Dance experience. The mulit-talented Schnugg served as Producing Direcotr, Company Manager, Technical Director and Lighting Designer. The dance company was extremely successful and toured six months out of the year in the United States and the Caribbean.


Tad Schnugg persevered and did not let this stop his commitment to the arts and his desire to work in the theater. He began to produce entertainment and theater productions in the United States and Europe. He produced and co-produced: “American Jam Session” and “Star Show” in France as well as major events forPeugot Automobiles, Bull Computers, Ford Europe and BMW in France and Belgium. His credits include “Sing Mahalia Sing,” “Apollo, Just Lke Magic…,” “Golden Gate” and“If This Hat Could Talk.” He was associate producer for the NBC TV Special “Cosby Salutes Ailey” (1989). Schnugg co-founded with George Faison the American Performing Arts Collaborative (1997), a non-profit organization which trains young people. The organization operates out of The Faison Firehouse Theater which they purchased and renovated with their personal funds.
